EMTECH was named Female-Led Fintech Company of the Year at the fifth Ghana FinTech Awards, held on Saturday 28 March 2026 at The Underbridge Annex in East Legon, Accra. Twenty-three awards were presented across the evening under the theme “From Awareness to Action: Building a Cyber-Secure Fintech Landscape in Ghana”.

The awards are organised by Arkel Limited in partnership with the Ghana Fintech and Payments Association, KPMG Ghana and Fintech Management Solutions, and run a four-stage process: open nominations, independent product assessments, public voting and a jury panel review.

Founded in 2019 by Carmelle Cadet, a former IBM executive, EMTECH builds the software central banks run on. Its products give a regulator a sandbox in which fintechs can test against live requirements, a digital cash platform, a compliance layer and risk-based supervision tooling. Carmelle started the company after a fact about her native Haiti, where roughly a quarter of the population held a bank account, convinced her that financial inclusion is settled at the level of market infrastructure long before it reaches a consumer app.

Ghana is where the argument was proved. The Bank of Ghana went live on EMTECH's regulatory platform in August 2022, and in December 2023 the two completed a pilot of the company’s digital cash infrastructure. EMTECH’s institutional relationships now extend to the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Central Bank of Liberia, the Bank of Sierra Leone, the Central Bank of the Republic of Guinea, the Central Bank of The Gambia, and the Central Bank of The Bahamas, delivered by a team of just over 20 people.

Congratulations to Carmelle and the EMTECH team. This recognition is something to be deeply proud of.
